Garstang CC are delighted to announce the signing of Indian professional Snehal Kauthankar for the 2023 season.
Snehal is only 27 years old, but has already played 47 First Class games and 71 more in the shorter formats. As a top order batter, he has more than 4,000 runs in representative cricket, including 10 centuries with a top score of 225. He has an impressive First Class average of 42, and recently finished the First Class season with an unbeaten 147.
Snehal is rated so highly that he was appointed captain of Goa’s First Class side in 2018 at the age of just 22 he showed maturity way beyond his years with his tactical decision making and won the support and admiration of many senior players in the process. His 225 came against Haryana in 2016 as a 20-year-old, he helped his team out of strife at 196-7 to post a match winning 415. Snehal is also a competent off spinner but clearly with the wealth of spinning talent in India and at Goa he is not required to bowl.
Snehal: "I am absolutely ecstatic to be a part of Garstang CC, and I'm looking forward to a fruitful season with the club. Thank you so much for the opportunity, and I can't wait to meet everyone."
Speaking to 1 X1 captain, Daniel Gilbert, "It is great to sign a quality player in Snehal as our new professional to start our title defence in 2023. After an extensive process, Snehal was identified as a clear favourite with his obvious batting capabilities, being captain of Goa, and his eagerness to get involved in the wider aspects of the club."
We’d also like to thank members of the committee & Gary Hunt of Cric-Intro for all their hard work and assistance in making the deal possible.
Everyone at the club is looking forward to welcoming Snehal to Garstang ahead of the 2023 season, and we wish him all the best in the remainder of the Indian season.
